Meet the Chef

Executive Chef Randall Maurer’s culinary career began in nearby Coopersburg where he spent his teen years working at the Locust Valley Country Club. He caddied by day and worked as a dishwasher at night where he was captivated by the chef's culinary skills. In 1969, the Locust Valley chef and golf pro opened the Century House Restaurant in Hatfield. Randy was offered a job and was quickly promoted through the ranks of the kitchen staff. When he graduated from high school he was assistant chef. A few years later, a new partner came on board. German chef Horst Herold, a well-known and accomplished chef with an impressive resume, proceeded to mentor Randy.

As Randy refined his skills in Classical Cuisine, his desire to own his own restaurant and further advance his talents led him to purchase Henry’s Salt of the Sea, which he successfully ran for more than twenty years.
